The NWLPSN was honored by the involvement of the Native Youth Movement (NYM) last year at the Indigenous People's Day Rally. Everyone there was greatly moved by the NYM speakers who explained what their movement was all about and of their commitment to carry on their struggle to the future generations. Their words were a expression of their continuous struggle. Feeling that the actions of the B.C. Treaty Commission and some of the Band Council leaders were selling out the inherited of the future generations of First Nations people, the NYM occupied the office of the B.C. Treaty Commission and later occupied the office of the Westbank Bank Council. In both situations NYM members were arrested. Because of the stand of the NYM for the rights of future generations of First Nation People the Westbank Band Council has gone to the RCMP to evict some members of the NYM from the land of a Westbank Band member.

The NWLPSN asks all of its members, supporters and those who believe in defending the rights of the future generations to act in solidarity with the NYM as they have requested.

In Solidarity
