Vancouver (CP) - BC Court of Appeal Tuesday overturned the sexual assault conviction of Hubert O'Connor, former Roman Catholic bishop of Prince George, and ordered a new trial. The 68-year-old cleric had been sentenced to 2 1/2 years for the rape and indecent assault of two young women 30 years ago, at a native residential school he ran near Williams Lake. The appeal court acquitted him of indecent assault but ruled he should be tried again for rape. O'Connor was granted bail.
